Basic Training
Air Force basic training suggestions on what kind of civilian clothes to take?
I leave for basic training next week and it says to bring four civilian outfits and I’m not sure what to take I don’t want to stand out but I don;t want to look like a dork. I am from Michigan and it’s soo cold here but in texas its probably 70’s or hotter. Okay well any suggestions would help!
Well, it was 38 degrees F this morning and supposed to be 79 degrees F tomorrow here in San Antonio. There is no “most likely,” as to where you’ll be, as the Air Force ONLY does BMT at Lackland AFB. Bring plain, plain, plain clothing. No logos…certainly nothing that says “Air Force” on it. The Air Force does issue running shoes. New Balance, everyone’s are identical. Don’t bring any shoes other than what you’re wearing (unless you’re wearing snow boots…you’d want to change). Make sure everything you bring is very ordinary and won’t stand out. No bright colors, no overly tight or baggy clothes. Don’t wear a lot of makeup or any jewelry. Do not wear nail polish or a French manicure (you want your nails short for BMT!). Make sure your underwear is very plain too. You do NOT want to stand out from a crowd, because the TI’s will fixate on whatever makes you look different, then call you that for days…maybe even the whole time you’re in BMT. If you can do so, bring four pair of plain jeans, four plain t-shirts, four sets of plain, white socks, conservative underwear, and wear comfortable shoes you can walk (a lot) in. Good luck!
