Boxing Kicking Bag
can you hit a Muay Thai with your bare hands and feet?
I kicked a boxing bag yesterday it I almost broke my foot. Punching it with my bare hands wasn’t so bad, but I found out that a boxing bag is much harder than I thought.
Is it the same way as a Muay Thai bag?
thai boxers typically do not attack with their foot. they kick with their shin. the shin bone is much bigger and harder than the little bones in your foot. in my opinion kicking with your shin it a LOT stronger too. anyways if you kick with your shin than yes by all means kick the thai bag thats actually how you condition your shins to kick a human. i know i wouldnt kick a thai bag with my foot(unless its practicing a push kick)
same with punching. unless you are fighting on the streets you are going to be wearing some sort of gloves even in mma there are still some(small) gloves. most mma fighters i’ve seen train still use regular [thai]boxing gloves for hitting the heavy bag. anyways similar to the feet your hands have very little bones that are easy to break. heck professional boxers still get boxing fractures even when they have gloves on. so i would not recommend hitting the heavy bag without gloves on either.
now sometimes my coach has us take off our gloves(keeping handwraps on to prevent scraping) and hit the heavy bag lightly to train proper wrist alignment(the gloves aid you greatly in wrist support) and for a little hand conditioning. but we definitely do not do it often, hard, or for a prolong period of time.
just keep in mind that gloves are made to protect your hands and if you injure them while training you have to wait until it heals to train again. so you can just cut down on the risk of time off simply by wearing gloves
