Okay fight fans- is it just me or is boxing way underrated in the MMA world? read be4 you flame me lol?
okay slow your roll!!! so hear me out- I have been doing BJJ and Muay Thai forever but recently I have been taking up boxing at a straight up old school mexican boxing gym. This has really improved my punching, and if you’ll notice, in many MMA fights these days guys have doing alot more sprawl n brawl style fighting, which doesn’t have as much kicking as punching. I know that grappling and muay thai still trump boxing in overall utility in MMA but I think it hasn’t gotten a fair shake since the likes of Art Jimmerson lol- I wonder who got that reference

Not by the fighters, I don’t think. Maybe by some of the fans, and by guys like Dana White who wants everyone to believe that boxing’s a dying sport. But many of the top pros train boxing: Arlovski, Rampage, Bonnar, Fedor, Marcus Davis, Chris Lytle, Forrest Griffin, Couture, Frankie Edgar, Gomi, Pulver, etc. They’ve seen the utility of boxing from day one. Of course it gets mixed in with Muay Thai, wrestling, BJJ, Taekwondo, or whatever else, but yeah, many of them use boxing for their stand-up.
