Bits of foam in fish tank ?? ?
Im new to tropical fisk tanking – and so a slight bit of over feeding may be the case, but there are tiny little bits of foam in two or three places around the surface on the sides. !!
No fish have died yet though, despite them only being in there for four days or so, with the tank at almost three weeks old.
Iv done 20% water changes too, to help the tank but i dunno !!
I have a filter which does 280liters/hour and no air stones. Theres a light in there, which is mainly off, with tiny bits of white on it ??
And, i have 2 real plants and some fake hiding places in there too !!
I live in the UK, i dont know if there is hard water here….also, i think i use a bit to much ‘water conditioner’ at cleaning times, i get paranoid about the water quality!!
The filter is quite strong but only falls about 2cm…the fish i have are tiger barbs (:
Excess water conditioner + aggressive “water fall” from your filter = bubbly/foamy water. By “water fall”, I meant where the filter pours back the water back into the tank. You can reduce the foam by increasing your water level and not use too much water conditioner. Increased water level means your water doesn’t get agitated/churned as much by the “water fall” since there is now only a short distance for the water to fall.
