Kimura Brazilian

Question about sore shoulder?

I was recently in a grapple against a brown belt. I only just started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in November. I pulled guard and he passed right away to side control where he tried for a Kimura. I resisted through the pain and eventually he let go thinking he must’nt of had it right and moved for an omoplata I reversed him into the mount where I tricked him into a triangle tapping him out. I got a lot of congratulatory praise from the more experienced guys in the gym so I was happy I didn’t tap. By the time I had left the gym my shoulder was sore. Not really bad but annoyingly sore when I move it certain ways. Is it just bruised or what? Like I said the pain isn’t that bad but nevertheless it is there. What do you guys think?

You probably strained your rotator cuff a bit. I’ve done it three times. Just ice for 30 minutes a couple times a day for 2 days, and then get some ben gay, icy hot, stuff like that, and rub it on your shoulder. Do some shoulder stretches every morning and night until it feels better. Next time before you grapple, get a good warm up and stretch your shoulders out. Get a good stretch afterwards as well too.
