Martial Arts Sanshou

Why is that Old Martial arts like Kung-fu and Karate are looked down on by MMA fighters?

I mean their name means “Mixed-martial arts”. The way they fight IS using martial arts only difference is that they MIX different styles. Worse part is that out of the rediculous number of styles out there they all usually have Muay Thai(I Like it it looks great), wrestling, brazilian jui-jitsu, I think judo and a few others. That guy kung le has sanshou or something added but all they use are Mixed styles. Why the need to try to say which one is superior? Sounds like saying which is better the the wolf or the husky?

Simple, 95% of all the martial arts instructors I have met in the last 42 years really don’t know much, and teach even less. It is easy for the public in general to get the idea that the traditional martial arts are not good for self-defense. So much more so for the instant experts on the subject that have not spent time around the real masters of the martial arts. It is not their fault no the public’s. They cane only go one what they see. Most of which is really bad. But there are and have been a few really knowledgeable masters of traditional martial arts. They continue to teach the real martial arts as they should be taught. Each instructor, no matter what they teach should be judged for what they are and can do. No style or method should be looked on as inferior or superior to another. To do so only shows ignorance of the ones that are good. People being people will always judge without knowing all the facts. They will decide for themselves what is effective and what is not, even though they themselves have little or no experience. It is just human nature and lots of ignorant ideas and talk from other, who don’t know any better.
