Step Set Risers
Precast concrete steps.?
If I purchase a precast set of steps (2 risers high)for my front door, how thick a concrete pad do I need to pour for a footing for the steps ?
4″ is your answer. Put some wire in it. I would also dig maybe a 6″ deep footing.
Here in the south whole houses are built on a 4″ slab with footing to the clay. Don’t attach steps to the house. No need for that. In fact if you do and your slab moves around in the least, and it will according to how much moisture is in the ground at any given season, it will pull away from whatever you attached it to. Be it siding or vinyl.
