Why does my monitor stop working after ~20 minutes of use?
Alright, I just recently finished building my new rig. Everything seems to be running OK, except there is one problem; after around 20 minutes or so of use (or just sitting there) my monitor will just go black.
- I’ve used it to watch a full movie hooked up to another computer and there was no problems.
- I’ve checked, and rechecked my connections.
- I have it set to never turn off in the power saving options.
- And it’s not like it won’t work at all, because when it boots up it’s fine, just after a bit of use (or like I said before, even if I just let it sit there) it goes black.
- Turning it off and back on doesn’t work either.
I’m running out of options, what do you think the problem is?
Check the hardware power saving options in your BIOS
Less likely from what you’ve said…
Does it have the same delayed cut-off after an immediate reboot? Or do you have to wait a little before rebooting? If you do then it may be that your graphics card is over heating.
Time it and see how long it takes. See if it cuts-off irrespective of the applications running.
