Please help me out on this treadmill stuff?
What should a 27 year old that weighs 212 pounds and is 5 “4 pulse be at while walking 2.5-2.7 mph on a treadmill be?
How long should this person be able to do it? Her shins start to hurt after 10 minutes but she is pushing herself through the full 20 minutes.
How often should this be done?
She needs to sell the treadmill, and buy an elliptical for one. The work out is better, with no impact on the joints or bones. And you can do more, and move at a much faster pace.
I do 20-30 minutes a day, I couldn’t do more then 5 on a treadmill with out killing my knees, using my inhaler and just wanting to stop and never do it again!
For fat burning, your heart rate should be about 125. You really don’t want it over 145, once you get over that, you are doing cardiovascular and don’t want to put that strain on your heart till you have lost some of the weight.
And you may want to do the treadmill one day, and something else the next. Giving your muscle’s time to rest for a day is always a good idea. Until you get to where you aren’t sore during or after, then every day would be ok.
