Why is the UFC 99: Silva vs. Franklin fight at 195?
Right now Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin are both fighting at 205 pounds, so why would the main event at UFC 99 be held at 195 pounds? Both fighters have jumped between 185 and 205, so why not just hold the fight at one of these divisions and make it official? Does the UFC figure this is closer to their natural weights and that they will fight more fiercely this way?
Wand is moving down to 185 at the request of Dana White, Anderson has already beaten Rich twice and he is one of the UFC’s biggest names, so to keep him relevant in the UFC he went back to 205, Rich has fought at 205 before and is a very big 185.
To make a fight happen between these two and for Dana to be fair considering he asked each to move to a different class before this fight was presented, they are having the fight in the middle @195.
I think its the fairest way to do it. It shouldn’t matter its a big win for wither guy at any weight.
